Join our dynamic and supportive team of Infant Development Specialists (IDS) serving Contra Costa County. We offer rewarding opportunities to serve families of infants and toddlers with developmental delays or identified disabilities. Understanding that young children learn in the context of relationships with the important people in their lives, our work focuses on promoting those bonds, and helping parents and other caregivers feel empowered to support their child’s development within the context of their daily routines. At this time we are primarily providing services using tele-intervention, but we anticipate a return to offering more sessions in person as home visitors. All positions start as part-time when you come on board and there are opportunities to work full-time as you build your caseload.

Essential Job Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with parents to develop goals and create plans for intervention
  • Coach family members and caregivers on ways to support their child’s development at home and in the community, including daycare centers, parks, the library, etc.
  • Provide specialized instruction in the natural environment using a hybrid model of tele-intervention and in-person sessions
  • Comply with all company policies and procedures including those related to COVID-19
  • Collaborate with other professionals supporting families
  • Conduct assessments in all developmental domains using the HELP, and the DAYC-2
  • Prepare progress reports including developmental levels in all domains, goals, and recommendations
  • Attend and participate in monthly staff meetings and trainings, biweekly home visitor reflective group, and biweekly individual reflective supervision

Essential Job Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelors degree in special education, child development, early childhood education, social work or a related field (Master’s Degree preferred)
  • Understand infant and toddler development and the importance of the parent-child relationship
  • Minimum of two years work experience serving families of infants and toddlers with developmental delays or identified disabilities, including one year as a home visitor
  • Experience conducting developmental assessments (experience with the HELP or DAYC-2 preferred)
  • Strong interpersonal skills including working as part of a transdisciplinary team
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills
  • Possess a valid California Driver’s License, reliable transportation and a current automobile insurance.
  • Bilingualism is a plus
