Early Intervention Services

Since 1983, Life Steps has been a leader in providing early intervention services to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays or are at risk for delays. Our task is to help each family maximize their child's potential. Because each child is unique, program plans and activities are specifically designed to meet each child's needs. All program plans address the six developmental domains:

  • Cognitive: A child's ability to learn, think and solve problems
  • Gross Motor: Large muscle coordination
  • Perception/Fine Motor: Use of hands and fingers
  • Communication: Comprehension of others; development of both expressive and receptive language.
  • Self-care skills
  • Social/Emotional skills: the child's personal reactions to the social culture in which he/she lives

Skilled educators, in collaboration with such specialists as speech pathologists, occupational and physical therapists, nutritionists and others, provide services at the child's home and at our two Los Angeles center-based programs. Life Steps staff shares its experience and knowledge about children to help each child and family individually attain her or his highest potential. In-home services provide for individualized services and are especially valuable for those families whose main language is other than English and whose culture may be Spanish, Mandarin, Korean, Vietnamese, etc

In home services: Alameda County, San Luis Obispo County, Orange County, Oakland County, Los Angeles County (Antelope Valley, East Los Angeles, City of Los Angeles, San Gabriel)
