Drug & Alcohol ServicesThe Drug and Alcohol Services Division of Life Steps Foundation has a history of developing innovative programs that target underserved populations. The ultimate goal of all Life Steps Foundation drug and alcohol programs is to help participants develop healthy lifestyles free of alcohol and drugs. Our residential treatment programs in the Central Coast allow mothers with substance abuse problems to reunify with their children while participating in their own treatment. A team of professional and paraprofessionals skilled in child development, parent education, mental health and substance abuse recovery provide 24-hour support. As the women learn new ways to live without drugs and alcohol, they also learn that, through their guidance, their children can develop healthy lifestyles as well. Our Pasos de Vida project, a federal demonstration model, is a comprehensive treatment program for dually diagnosed women and their children up to age 12. Participants commit to 12 months of sober living and 12 months of continuing care. They live in a communal setting that includes an on-site Montessori-based childcare cooperative. Learn more... Our Alcohol and Drug Free Living Center serves up to five pregnant and parenting women seeking recovery and their children under 5 years of age. Participants commit to 12 to 18 months of sober living, and aftercare as needed. A team of paraprofessional staff are on site 24/7 to do in house case management, recovery education classes, nutrition, credit counseling, communication, and model new parenting methods. Other treatment is provided by the County Drug and Alcohol Services POEG program. Learn more... Our Work for Recovery Program offers GED preparation, vocational training, resumé development, job related workshops, job search assistance and guidance, as well as transportation and childcare assistance. This is a 15 month project funded by the Department of Labor to assist women in recovery to obtain the necessary skills and assistance to earn a living wage while integrating into the greater community. Here, mothers and children also receive extensive, collaborative community-based services. |
