Development Division

Life Steps Foundation's Development Division focuses on three areas of development:

  1. Research and New Program development
  2. Resource Development
  3. Marketing, Promotion, and Public Relations

The Life Steps strategic plan guides research and new program development. It includes planning and analysis; developing policies and procedures; creating molecular work groups that design, customize and implement new programs; and overseeing, developing and nurturing relationships that strengthen effective interagency collaborations among new programs. The Development Division also oversees proposal / grant writing for new programs and serves as a resource for program development and evaluation.

The Development Division's Resource Development encompasses the traditional goals of fundraising and is designed to support on-going and new or expanding programs. Such support is sought through foundation or corporate grant proposals, event fundraising, letter campaigns, telemarketing, gifting programs, and by working with the CEO to build Life Steps Board of Directors to be a driving force in fund development. Resource Development functions also include the strategic planning of Life Steps' short and long term fundraising program.

The Marketing, Promotion, and Public Relations area of the Development Division has a goal of bringing Life Steps' public image into closer alignment with its mission, current realities, and future dreams through increased visibility, the identification of potential donors, and increased program support. Along with the assessment of current public relations/marketing resources within the agency, the Development Division is responsible for developing policies and procedures for marketing and public relations activities. These policies and procedures include the creation of a coherent Life Steps image, information packages for marketing purposes, standardized display materials for all Life Steps offices and program sites, and the use of Life Steps' website for public relations, marketing, and fundraising goals. The Development Division is also working to develop technical assistance systems for media access. The on-going development and production of the Life Steps Newsletter and other desktop publishing materials such as brochures are part of the Development Division's responsibilities.

Working molecularly, the Development Division provides education, training, and information on all three areas of focus.
