Chief Executive Officer, Life Steps Foundation Children and Family Services

Susan Chang joined Life Steps more than a decade ago, ascending steadily to her current executive management position as CEO of Life Steps Foundation’s Children and Family Services. Within a year of joining Life Step as an Intern in 1998, Ms. Chang’s dedication to children and her organizational acumen propelled her into positions of greater and greater responsibility within the Foundation.

After a brief stint as a Child Development Specialist with the Life Steps Infant Development Program in Whittier, Ms. Chang became the program’s Supervisor and subsequently its Coordinator/Manager. In 2001, she took on the responsibilities of Infant Division Manager for Life Steps Foundation, Inc. In this capacity, Ms. Chang managed several comprehensive infant development projects including in-home and center-based services and supervised managers across the state of California.

In 2002, Ms. Chang was named Director of Life Steps Foundation Infant and Children Services. Her daily challenges included overseeing the programs and staff of five infant in-home projects, an infant/toddler center-based program, and a foster parent project. In addition to these efforts, Ms. Chang deftly managed division and budget development, compliance and performance issues, hiring, interagency communications and administrative collaborations within the Life Steps organization.

Ms. Chang earned a Master of Science in Early Childhood Education from Madison University, Gulfport, Mississippi in 2005, and completed 44 units of the Master Program in Child Development at California State University, Los Angeles. She has also studied music at Fullerton College. In 1992, Ms. Chang graduated Fu-Jen Catholic University in Taipei, Taiwan, with a Bachelor of Science in Applied Life Science, emphasizing Child Development. Before immigrating to the United States and joining Life Steps Foundation, Ms. Chang taught preschool, kindergarten, and elementary school in Taipei.
