Marta JulioMarta Julio is a distinguished business executive who has an enviable amount of experience and expertise in human resources, business strategy and labor. Founder and president of Marta P. Julio & Associates, Inc., which helps Latin-American students matriculate into accredited schools within the United States, she has established herself as a mover and shaker in the challenging world of healthcare organizations and their labor. Among her many tasks and responsibilities, managing labor issues and expenses is her principal objective. Ms. Julio has played a fundamental role for many organizations in modernizing their payroll and compensation systems. In helping effectively operate independent medical and support care service providers, she trains and educates; improves work performance; mediates and bargains interest-based and collective agreements; and manages operations and financial reporting. With a master’s degree in human resources management and numerous certifications in all matters pertaining to labor, Ms. Julio invariably applies her expertise with one superseding, proactive mindset: minimizing costs and maximizing profits. Her motto: Organizations must earn a reasonable profit in order to operate, and labor needs appropriate compensation in order to secure the organization’s reasonable profit. Ms. Julio’s accomplishments testify to her effectiveness. At one organization, she forged partnerships with labor unions that yielded a multiyear savings (2001 – 2005) of $2.7 million. In 2001 – 2003, Ms. Julio reduced a healthcare provider’s annual hiring expenses by 41 percent while also maximizing labor benefits and maintaining the healthcare service standards established by the Joint Commission for Accrediting Hospital Organization (JCAHO). Ms. Julio saved health care provider Our Lady of Mercy nearly $7 million by establishing a comprehensive Kronos payroll system and compensation package. With such broad business experience, she has also applied for and been awarded grants. Taught in a private university, Ms. Julio maintains extensive professional activities: research, publishing, continuing education, and seminars. She also enriches her professional expertise through affiliations such as the Society of Human Resources Management. Ms. Julio sits on two boards of directors — the 1199/SEIU Employer Child Care Corporation; and Pyramid Health Care Network Systems.
