Early Interventionist (Los Angeles County and Orange County)

Life Steps Foundation seeks early interventionists, who would provide services to children in their natural environments, within Los Angeles County, Orange County and/or a center-based setting in Whittier.

Who We Are
Since 1983, Life Steps Foundation has led the social services industry in providing early intervention services to infants and toddlers who have developmental delays, or who are at risk of delays, throughout California.   Our task is to help each family maximize its child’s potential.   Because children are unique, program plans and activities are customized to meet their specific needs.

Job Summary

• Use skills to develop, collaboratively with the family or other professionals involved, appropriate individual program plans for children.
• Identify and respond to the children’s developmental needs and progress, evaluate the children on a regular basis, and report on their progress.
• Evaluate the child on a regular basis, and report his or her progress to the regional center’s project manager.
• Effectively plan for and assist children in becoming developmentally age-appropriate and/or in reaching their full developmental potential for inclusion in natural environments.

Education
Minimum of a BA or BS in special education, human development, early childhood education, psychology or other social services areas is required.

Experience
Two years of field-related experience working with both typical (non-delayed) and atypical children and their families is highly preferred; experience with and competency in using H.E.L.P. assessment tool.

Other Requirements

• Have a valid California driver’s license.
• Have reliable transportation and current automobile insurance.
• Have effective writing and verbal communication skills; computer literate.
• Having bilingual ability in English/Spanish, English/Cantonese, English/Mandarin, English/Korean and English/Vietnamese is a plus.
